📦 How to Correct a Shipping Label After It’s Been Purchased (Box Size, Weight, Address, etc.)
Last updated April 22, 2025
If you’ve already purchased a shipping label but need to fix something - like the box size, weight, or shipping address - here’s exactly what you’ll need to do.
Important: Shipping labels can’t be edited after purchase. The only way to correct a mistake is to void the label and then create a new one with the correct details.
đźš« Step 1: Void the Current Label
Unfortunately, labels cannot be edited after purchase. To correct any information, you’ll need to void the incorrect label first.
How to Void a Label:
- Go to the Shipments table in Parsel.
- Locate the shipment you need to correct.
- Click the void order button ⍉ next to the shipment.
- Confirm the void action in the pop-up.
Once the label is voided, the order will move back to your Unfulfilled Orders list, ready to be processed again.
📝 Step 2: Return to the Order and Correct the Information
After voiding the label, head back to the Orders table in Parsel and reopen the order you just voided.
Before generating a new label:
- Update the box size and weight in Parsel by going to Settings > Packages.
- Update the shipping address in Shopify if needed — it will sync automatically with Parsel once saved.
🖨️ Step 3: Purchase a New Label
Now that the information is correct:
- Select the corrected order from the Orders table in Parsel.
- Choose the correct package size and weight.
- Purchase the new label with the updated details.
- Print your new label and packing slip.
❗️Important: Don’t Cancel in Shopify!
⚠️ Do not use the “Cancel Fulfillment” button in Shopify to cancel a shipment.
Doing so will:
- Not void the label — you’ll still be charged for it.
- Incorrectly deduct inventory and mark it as fulfilled.
âś… Always void shipments directly in Parsel to properly cancel the label and keep your inventory accurate.
âś… Quick Reminder:
- Addresses must be updated in Shopify before re-purchasing a label.
- Box sizes and weights can be updated directly in Parsel when processing the replacement label.
