Pre-authorization Charges
Last updated March 21, 2025
Parsel uses a pre-authorization charge of $250 to verify credit card validity and ensure sufficient funds are available before allowing users to purchase shipping labels. Here’s what you need to know about pre-authorization:
What is Pre-authorization?
Pre-authorization is a temporary hold placed on your credit card to verify that your card is valid and has sufficient available funds. The hold amount ($250) is not actually charged to your account but temporarily reduces your available credit.
Why Does Parsel Use Pre-authorization?
- To verify the validity of the provided payment method.
- To ensure funds are available to cover upcoming shipping label purchases.
How the Pre-authorization Process Works:
- Card Verification:
- Upon adding or updating your payment method, Parsel places a temporary hold of $250 on your credit card.
- Funds Availability:
- You must have at least $250 available on your credit card at the time of verification.
- Hold Release:
- The authorization hold is automatically released back to your account, typically within a few business days, depending on your bank’s policies.
Important Tips:
- Ensure sufficient funds or available credit on your card before verifying to avoid failed verifications.
- Contact your bank if the authorization hold doesn't release within the expected timeframe.
